Martin Reynolds is an Irish born; London based photographer.  His practice and work are influenced by an interest in humanity and human behaviour.   He is part of the LGBTQ+ community.  

 

In 2021 he completed an MFA Photography, with Distinction from Belfast Fine Arts, Ulster University.  He she studied under the tutelage of Ken Grant, Donovan Wylie, Clare Gallagher, Haley Morris-Cafiero and Ailbhe Greaney.

Prior to developing his photographic practice, he worked for 20 years in corporate consulting specifically within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and business analytic sectors.   Following the sale of his consultancy in 2010 he took up photography and has been practiscing since. 

The photographic work has progressed from street and portrait photography to a current focus on the human response to trauma.   In 2021, his work “Reversing Through the Rear View” Chapter 3 was released.  It is visual storytelling (photographs, altered images and drawings), using reconstructed self-portraits covering a period of trauma (cancer) between 2008-2010.  The methodologies used are Creative Autopathography and Reflective PhotoTherapy.  The work is available for wall hanging and will be published in a photo book later this year. 

Other works include: “Chasing the Light – Lockdown” which is a 16-month photo documentary where light was captured at various times, dates and places in my homes during the three lockdowns in The UK.

2019-2021 - Chasing the Lights - images generated during the COVID lockdowns whilst confined.

 

2019-2021 - "Reversing Through the Rear View, Chapter 3" - a reflective and creative autopathography and phototherapy study of my trauma with cancer starting in 2008.  This work embodies self-portraiture, photographs, altered images, drawings and a poem.  The plan is for the work to be presented in both Exhibition and in book format.  

 

2021 - planning and academic research is underway for the Chapter 1 and Chapter 2.
